Here is the author's <a href="http://www.newwave.net/~haught/" target="_blank">web page.</a>

Though I didn't read much he appears to be an agnostic freethinker.

He also has <a href="http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/james_haught/index.shtml" target="_blank">essays</a> on the Sec Web, and apparently has published several books.

I think they go hand in hand, maybe even two sides of the same coin. You have to insulate yourself to maintain a belief in absolute truth.

It does seem that Haught is an agnostic.

Why is religion — which universally teaches love, forgiveness and brotherhood — entwined in so much murder and hate around the world?
I do have a problem with the bolded part of the above quote. IMO, if this were true then works would be more important than faith. Religion is a human invention akin to politics, it is only recently in human history that religion & politics have separated and then in only some parts of the world. And in the US, religion is doing it's darndest to get into politics and it's not because of an interest in brotherhood.

And I still think reading the bible is a good way to discover why religion & hate are linked. If you are not for us then you must be against us & will burn in hell for eternity.
