I think you answered your own questions. This has been a major complaint of mine over the years. The Catholic church for example has its leaders living in splendour and secrecy while around the world there is constant suffering. Others are just as guilty. I have to wonder how many privelidged theological leaders actually believe in what they are preaching or are they just keeping up appearances to foster their lavish lifestyles.

How do you know this? In the paragraph above you state that "god" is so complex that no one will ever understand him/her/it, but in this paragraph your Catholic education has enabled you to understand extremely complex emotional states of a supposed spiritual being. Can't you see the irony in that statement? I put forth that you have been brainwashed into believing in something that does NOT exist.
