Cruelty charge filed after dog is dragged
David J. Cieslak The Arizona Republic Aug. 2, 2004 12:00 AM Police arrested a man on suspicion of animal cruelty Sunday after he and his wife found their runaway dog in a west Phoenix neighborhood, then tied the animal by its neck to the back of a pickup truck and dragged it nearly a mile. Herminio Velasquez, 32, told officers he tied the 2-year-old female chow to the truck because he didn't want to place the dog inside the pickup and risk getting his clothes dirty before attending church, investigators said. Witnesses called 911 about 4:30 p.m. after spotting the dog trying to keep up with the truck near Glendale and 43rd avenues, Phoenix police Sgt. Jantra Palmer said. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...0802dog02.html I also heard (but haven't located a reference) that a Catholic woman in Ireland had her dogs euthanized so that she could attend the pope's funeral. |

Yeh, but we must remember that animals don't matter. God told the humans they have control over them, and animals don't get into the after life, so why should we care! (Sarcastic)

Is there wholesale carnage. Unfortunately there are a few imbeciles around who will use any excuse to justify what they do. If an Atheist throws a stone in the local church window that does not mean they all do this. Though I agree it is stupid to then say this was for God. Regards |

There are of course people who will use God as a transer of responsibility for their actions. God told me to kill that person or shoot the cat. Of course there are and have been animal sacrifices which hopefully have not all been cruel and they did not waste the meat. |

This is one of the issues I have had as a question concerning the character of God and the way Jesus is said to be the revelation of God to man...
So now taking from the Biblical account, when God created the whole wide world he did pronounce that he saw his own work as good at the end of each day. So he pronounced goodness to the animal kingdom... Then what? In Proverbs it is said that a righteous man will even treat animals with kindness. Fast forward to Jesus and his casting devils, so many they were an entity identified as Legion outta some guy but what he did was cast them into a herd of pigs... And it is recorded he did this at the request of the devils... Jesus is said in the Bible to have cast alot of devils outta other folks and he never did give them an alternate physical host. Well this to me is a glaring inconsistency with how I had as a believer counted God and His incarnate visitation in the person of Jesus Christ... But I do see that for these people that you cited as demonstrating a devaluing of animal life by mistreatment and that with a religious motive, perhaps Jesus did a great disservice to the animal kingdom that day he cast devils into pigs. Or if the whole Bible is make believe, that is an awful story that has perhaps propagated a diminishing of right treatment of animals and that 'in the name of Jesus'... I nearly feel bad to say that, but you know, I have not gotten revelation about it to satisfy the question that his actions raised. Love, PS |

When lesbos throw condoms at the church it isn't hate speech, its free speech. Jesus said something about hypocrites. |
