resident Bush works out two hours a day and gets 8 hours of sleep a day. He prays because he used to be a problem drinker and a consumer of certain pharmaceuticals he doesn't want his children to know about, but I've never heard of him meditating. He depends for his military strategy on some hard nosed advisors, not theologians. |

"The GOP doesn't need to finance those expensive old programs for anti-missile shields, they can just tell GW and Rumsfeld to pray harder. "
"Their laser vision should explode the incoming missles quite handily." And don't forget that Asscraft(tm) can sing and pray away all the nekkid titties from off them pornographic statues and have precious Jebus tell him where all the top ten fugitives are hiding |

Bush is no more a Christian than I am and we all know that I am no Christian. Can't you see that George is using Religion? He needed the religious right to get elected. He just sent a whole gang of right wing religious nuts to some UN debate on whether children should learn about birth control or abstain from sex forever. Since no one in the US government really seems to give a rat's ass about what the UN says, Shrub can use this ploy (sending those nut-cases to the UN) and tell the right-wingers what a great job he is doing to protect their ideas, without having any impact on anything else in the government. Strictly politics. I seriously doubt that there ever was a really sincere Christian president or politician for that matter, I personally feel the two are mutually exclusive. |

The founders did not include the "so help me god" in the oath of office as specified in the constitution.
I'm sure GWB would describe himself as an original intent kinds guy. Don't all presidents violate the law they are supposedly swearing to uphold when they include this god stuff? There was one who did not swear on the bible. Does anyone have any info on that? I think I heard that it was J.Q. Adams. |

A Google search reveals that Franklin Pierce was the first president to affirm instead of swear. Herbert Hoover was the only other.

Beachbum, you are forgetting about President William McKinley, who invaded the Phillipines to bring Christianity to the natives, who had long suffered under the heathen rule of Spain.
