I just completed my degree this year (finally).

I went to college for a short time (about a year) after high school then did the military thing (NOT recommended). I went back to school in 98 and graduated this last semester.

During all that time I have never seen a street preacher. Since the fundie Xtian population is alive and bloated here in South-East Texas I suppose that it is assumed that street preachers aren't necessary.

I guess I got off lucky

You mean Brother Jed is still around doing his thing? Last I saw him, his above mentioned daughter was a muffin in the oven.

As I recall, Sister Cindy looked rather sexy when she was self-righteouly angry. Which, come to think of it, was pretty much all the time.

Precisely my experience. He was an embarrassment, and made what I thought of as the real work of evangelism much more difficult. Hmm, you know, maybe I should make a financial contribution to his efforts now ...

Yep, 'ol Brother Jed came by the Iowa State campus back in the early 90's. The crowd there started small and stood back some, then got larger and closed in but Jed wasn't intimidated. What a trooper!

I was chatting with a cop who was there to keep an eye on things. According to him he makes the rounds every few years. The cop said the previous time he had been on campus it was winter and someone nailed him with a snowball. Apparently Jed loved it.

So if you see Brother Jed again, lob a snowball at him, let him know you care.

According to his website, he has made converts. See "Ministry Fruit" (what an appropriate name). There has been a guy who goes by the name "Moses" at the University of Arkansas. He creates so much anger within the Christian community that I've wondered if it might really be an atheist trying to point out the stupidity of Christianity.

There are several on this board(QofS and MadKalley for sure) that should really see the family album. Jed refers to his wife as ...TADA...."The Little Woman" I shit you not. Just how stupid can you get?

Brother Jed was a regular at Oberlin College when I was there in the early 1990s. We didn't have much entertainment in our rural campus so we had to settle for him to scorn every once and a while.

We can take some credit for the decedence he is fighting against too, as the first college in the nation to be co-ed, the first to have co-ed dorms, and probably the first to have co-ed bathrooms in the dorms (my dorm had them) and co-ed naked KP in the cooperatives (as well as a thriving sex co-op which sold birth control and sex toys at cost, and provided free information).
