spin,
Aww, no. You've just crapped on for no good reason about some theory you don't believe. I am a contractarian. Please don't presume to know more about my beliefs than I do. When the best you can do to address a plea for a moral defence of eating meat was to say in equovocal terms that you reject moral standards, I can't see you addressing much more than an envelope. Spin, i honestly don't know what your problem is. You seem fairly intelligent. You speak in full sentences and everything. You seem to have at least a halfway decent grasp on Biblical scholarship, from what I've seen in BC&A. For some reason, however, you seem completely unable to grasp simple philosophical concepts, such as the reason that "I am a contractarian" does not mean "I reject moral standards." What do think contractarianism is, if not a theory that generates moral standards? You are incorrect regarding contract theory. Have the balls (or, if you're a woman, have the ovaries) to step up and admit that you are incorrect. Edited to remove an offensive remark. P.B.,
... Give up on Spin: it's like trying to argue with the Argument Clinic. ("You're just bickering!"/"No, I'm not.") Jeff [ March 23, 2002: Message edited by: Not Prince Hamlet ]</p> |

---------------- Spin, i honestly don't know what your problem is. ---------------- I realise this, Horatio. PB: ---------------- You seem fairly intelligent. PB: ---------------- For some reason, however, you seem completely unable to grasp simple philosophical concepts, such as the reason that "I am a contractarian" does not mean "I reject moral standards." ---------------- Oh, so you're one of them again. Fine. You're living in the wrong century. When you're back in the 21st tell me. PB: ---------------- What do think contractarianism is, if not a theory that generates moral standards? ---------------- No. It's an arbitrary agreement between consenting adults. PB: ---------------- You are incorrect regarding contract theory. ---------------- As you had consistently missed the motivation behind the idea, as shown by your original introduction of the idea into the discussion, you have no criterion to say anything about correctness. PB: ---------------- Have the balls (or, if you're a woman, have the ovaries) to step up and admit that you are incorrect. ---------------- In the face of your apologetics for contracts, the only think I can admit is the amusement of watching you struggle to make sense. |

Spin, we're all glad that Scientology TM is working out for you, but really.
What is the purpose of your obsession over vegetarianism threads? You know you're not going to keep us omnivours from eating meat. Spin, I can only guess that your purpose here is to convince yourself that you are some how moraly superior. It is really quite childish. |

Jon assumes:
----------------------------------- Spin, we're all glad that Scientology TM is working out for you, but really. ----------------------------------- I gather you have problems with simple logic. Jon ponders: ----------------------------------- What is the purpose of your obsession over vegetarianism threads? You know you're not going to keep us omnivours from eating meat. ----------------------------------- Opportunistic meat eaters are simply opportunists. You can't help that as long as you don't realise that you're an opportunist. Jon confabulates: ----------------------------------- Spin, I can only guess that your purpose here is to convince yourself that you are some how moraly superior. It is really quite childish. ----------------------------------- Guessing is always a hazardous business. Most times one is wrong, but given your track record, that most times escalates. I don't mind being childish. Children are usually honest, inventive, open to new ideas and haven't accepted the yoke quite as much as most adults. |

Ok, everybody: when's the last time you saw Spin accept (or even appear to consider) a new idea? Anybody? Anybody? Anybody? |
