Well I was just wondering what the Apostles said that Jesus was the best thing since. I'm not sure your suggestion "Oh Jesus, you are the best thing since aquaducts" sounds right. Eudaimonist's suggestion of Greek philosophy is a possibility, but doesn't quite have the right ring about it.

"Oh Jesus, you are the best thing since Shittim Wood" is a possibility. It was used extensively for extra-special fabrications, temple refits etc., and I can't imagine any other wood you could possibly make an ark out of in only one week.

I had the finest time on the bloody Roman fields from Colchester to Londinium with Queen Boudicca.

Though her final day was wrought, I owe her all my happiness in the remaining days spent in the wondrous land of Iceni.

Then came the dark acts of Nicea and fewer moments have been as cherished.

A similar conjunction nears, though, so hope remains for yet more glorious times...
