Default A question about memory... more of a thought experiment

The question is, if you could trade a section of your memory for another persons? Would you do it? And what section would it be?

I would happly trade all my comic book and movie trivial for a understanding of physics and advanced mathmatics.

How about you?

I would trade all of my trivial knowledge (movies, TV, wrestling, sports, etc.) for social skills.

I wouldn't want to trade any of my knowledge. Especially my trivial knowledge. Its a part of what makes me Me.

I would much rather be able to just add someone elses knowledge on top of what I already have. Especially their trivial knowledge.

I also wouldn't trade or delete any part of my knowledge or memories. I actually believe that I can learn anything I want myself. And I wouldn't want anybody else's memories. If I want a glimpse of somebody's life I'll just read a book or watch TV. Or read this discussion board

Assuming that it does not significantly alter who I am, I would be willing to trade my entire childhood through to the end of high school (retaining useful general knowledge and skills of course), along with my knowledge of comic books, movies, and sci-fi/fantasy. What would I want in return? Years of training in fencing, sleight of hand, juggling, law, romance, business, acrobatics, painting, drawing, computers, and perhaps the Navy Seals or something similar.

Oddly, I'd trade all of my understanding of science, logic, and humanity for a nice, comforting, God-delusion. That and considerably reduced intellectual capacity.

Why oh why couldn't I have been born too dumb to understand how truly fucked up this world is? :boohoo:

I would GLADLY swap my memory of watching my favorite cousin hang himself for some memories of a pub hopping trip to Dublin.

Well, that was a bit of a conversation-stopper...
