While the ad hominem may not have been appropriate, your analysis is even more damning. If he's won scientific awards, he's obviously had articles peer-reviewed and has been through the process of publication (and most likely has been asked to review articles submitted for publication.)

His "misconceptions" are only all the more glaring in the face of this evidence. One must conclude that he's either unsure how the process works even though he's been through it himself or he's lying about the process in order to discredit evolution. Take your pick.

You should ask him why he has such a problem with the established field of evolutionary biology. Evolutionary biologists don't tell him how to practice medicine (or whatever he does) and he should treat them with the same respect. If you are going to be an academian, you should trust the concensus of other fields.
