To understand the bible you have to walk on water and since there was no historic event to verify this, the "there" is in the "here and now." If you can't be with it in the here and now you should at least let me hold your hand or you will drown even on dry land.

Good luck but be careful not to dive in head first.

A priest, a pastor and a rabbi are out fishing. The discussion turns to walking on water and the rabbi, naturally, is skeptical. So the preist declares he's going to get out of the boat and walk on the water, which he does! Then the pastor gets out and steps onto the water, without sinking! There's the priest and the pastor walking around on top of the water and just having a ball! Finally the rabbi gets out of the boat and sinks to the bottom like a stone.

The pastor turns to the preist and says, "do you think we ought to have told him where those big rocks were?"

Have a nice day on Planet Amos.

OK, when the ego raptures that which remains is in heaven. Before you can accept that you have first have remove your preconceived idea of the biblical rapture parable (sorry about that), but it once again points at the dual nature of Jesus-the-Jew and Jesus-the-man. This same duality exists in us as both "man" and "human." The prefix -hu is from -humi and means "earthly" which now means that humans are earthly and man is heavenly--if you allow me to juxtapose heaven with earth.

CASE IN POINT: I take the words at their dictionary value's but not the combination of them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How is this at all relevant to my OP?

Just to prove that you are an impoverished religious fundamentalist. To be an atheist and not believe in God one must "be" God and have no doubt because only knowledge and understanding can set you free from any belief of which doubt is its opposite.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MORE: The parables are groups of conventional words used to describe non-conventional events.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, they are not. Parables are short fictitious stories that illustrate a moral attitude or a religious principle.

Only if you do not see the reality behind them.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MORE: These events are real and so parables have meaning because they point at something that is real.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, they do not. Try reading that dictionary you mentioned before.

There are no parables in dictionaries but dictionary words are used to write parables.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MORE: I look at the reality and evaluate the wording of the parable to see how effective they describe the events.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then you are one of the most self-deluded individuals I've ever had the misfortune of addressing since there is no "reality" for you to look at (it's a collection of unsupported, ancient mythology) and parables are not utilized to describe actual events; they are used to impart specific morality or cult-oriented tenets.

You forget here that only beauty and truth are real.

Another tale told by Amos, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Not to encourage him or anything, but these could be the core of some decent rock lyrics....

The next line would be:

"For if you do, I'd have to go for your legs."

Couldn't have said it better myself, MacJobar.

I'll now sit back and watch Koy, Dane of Thread, make mincemeat of the hapless and incoherent toy, Amos.
