As an atheist, you are no doubt aware that I take serious offense to any mention of things I don't personally endorse. As such, I consider any mention of the above-mentioned topics, save for The List itself, harassment and a violation of my constitutionally guaranteed rights to the pursuit of happiness or something like that.

The ACLU will be contacting you shortly.

Oh, yeah, and those laws against profiting from your crimes mean that I am going to get all the proceeds from the made for TV movie about my story!

Cha-CHING!

The woman in question could have a variation of a malady I read about where the person stomach/intestines doesn't produce certain digestive enzymes - amylase, lipase, etc. - so that food largely passes through undigested. But I think we need Dr. Rick's input on this.

Sorry, lisarea, but I thought he was hot in Wonder Boys. More so than Tobey Maguire, and I love Tobey Maguire.

That said, the only person I have ever known to have an actual eating disorder is a close friend of mine, the person I would have least suspected would have one. She wasn't over-skinny, and as far as I know, no one ever caught her purging herself...and then all of a sudden, one day last summer, I called her house and she wasn't there because she was in the hospital. Often it's not those super-thin gals with the problems...

Nope, she's not a purger. I know that for a fact. I don't have anything against skinny people (I used to weigh 85 pounds not too long ago - okay, almost five years ago, now) and I don't have anything against fat people (I used to weigh 210 - that was exactly fourteen months ago). I'm down to 170 and a size 12 again thanks to bad habits, and it's extremely frustrating to watch someone eat at random while I have to jump through hoops.

Yesterday she ate 9 pieces of thick-crust Pizza Hut pizza (supreme) and drank four Mt Dews. And that was during her lunch break!

How do you know? This is just not normal, I don't care what her metabolism is. She must spend a shitload on food every month! Have you looked at her front teeth? Does she often go to the bathroom after lunch? People can be very sneaky. I had 2 girls on my dorm wing when I was an RA in college with EDs, and they were both masters of denial. Really, to the point of being almost pathological about it. Sure I know tons of healthy skinny people who eat a lot, but this is just *insane*:

For example, yesterday she had two nacho grande things from TacoBell (something like 1,100 calories in each) plus two soft-shell tacos. Then she had a Big Mac supersize meal from McDonalds with extra "Mac" sauce. Then a can of cheese ravioli from Chef Boyardee, plus four 20 ounce Mt Dew drinks. She ended up with a bag of smoked almonds from the vending machine at 9pm last night.

I spend quite a lot of time with her each week, both at and outside of work. I know her fianc and her best friend very, very well - I've even breached the topic with them and they assure me that she just likes to eat big meals. Besides, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to tell if someone was bulimic or not - I know most of the tricks in the book, and the ones I don't know I could pick up on, I'm sure.

Oh, and as far as the teeth thing goes - smart girls will brush their teeth afterwards and swish with water, so it doesn't affect the enamel.

I thought that the acid from the stomach wears away at the enamel regardless of brushing.
