Is it alright to flame a member if he or she has been banned?

It is certainly OK to choose to not flame someone.

In fact, I think not flaming anyone probably contributes to a nicer atmosphere all around.

If a person has a beef with some other person, make a reasonably calm, reasonably factual statement about it. People can then evaluate the statement and come to some determination about whether the statement is justified.

Flaming seems like it is stepping down into the mud, and inviting someone else to join you. If they decline, who is it that ends up with muddy feet?

cheers,
Michael

But some posters have very thin skin, like Magus55, and take offense at constructive criticism. How should we deal with situations where they don't take criticism?

If someone takes offense at something, they should use the "report this post" button.

If they've got a legitimate complaint, the moderators will take care of it. If the moderators don't think it is legitimate, the person can open a thread in the Bugs forum and the administrators will take a look at it. If we don't think the rules have been violated, it is up to the person to figure out how they are going to deal with it.

They'd seem to have the options of learning how to live with it or not posting things that inspire that criticism.

cheers,
Michael
