I found Baldur's Gate in English in the computer street of Kaohsiung, where everything is available. I bought the Collector's Edition for NT$1,200, or about US$37. This included a T-shirt (XL on the grounds that all software games players are overweight), a calendar, maps, and all 4 BG games -- I, II, Sword Coast, and Throne of Bhaal.
Thanks to all who participated in the BG discussion! Vorkosigan |

Too bad I missed that discussion... the Baldur's Gate series is a specialty of mine. I can't claim to be an expert at much except it.
Make sure you download all the official patches from http://www.bioware.com as there were quite a few bugs left over after release, but many of the bad ones got patched... certainly not all of them though. Then (shameless plug!) head over to http://www.baldurdash.org and grab the unofficial patches I put together. I have 'em for all four BG's (BG1, Tales, Shadows, and Throne) but if you install all four right away you'll only need the ones for Tales of the Sword Coast and Throne of Bhaal as they include the BG1 and BG2: Shadows of Amn material respectively. This also goes for the official patches, which should of course be installed first. But I can guarantee you that you will run into problems if you don't at least grab the official patches. Oh, and not to spoil you too much, but if you happen to run into a guy named Valygar in BG2, let him join up with you (unless you're playing evil-aligned.) Yes, nothing like adventuring with a fellow atheist, aye? ![]() |

Jesus-fictional-Christ!
All this time I've been seeing your name on this board and I've never put the two together. You're the BG Kevin Dorner. Ha! Small world. PS - Had Valygar throughout BGII, but dropped him for Sarevok in ToB. |

That would be me... my reputation precedes me. Now is it 20 or 1 I wonder?
![]() ---Slight Spoiler--- Valygar has kind of a muted personality though so plenty seem to let him go after his quest is done... and you don't get to find out he's an unbeliever unless Keldorn is also in the group. |

Which makes me wonder what he says to you at the end of ToB?

Baldur gate? I thought the Throne of Bhaal is more interesting.

Walross And yeah, I'm guilty of dropping Valygar early. My PC was a ranger and I didn't see the point of having 2. Maybe I'll have to play it through again.... |

I really liked Valygar, but I only wanted 3 fighters in the party. I had to keep Minsc because I had him since day 1 of BG. I kept Mazzy because I secretly had a crush on her...um...I mean, my character did.
And I had to take Sarevok because the concept was just too cool. Nalia and Imoen rounded out my party. (Damn Nalia...at least she was better than the stupid wingless faerie chick). |

I kept the stupid wingless faerie chick around because I felt sorry for her. Seriously.
Ok, what is reality again? I actually felt bad everytime I ditched someone. It didn't stop me from getting rid of Minsc in favor of Sarevoc (normally, I never would have ditched Minsc, but everyone else was too indespensible). Like Wyz said, the concept was too cool. Spoiler... ...you guys know that there is away to have Sarevoc change his alignment to "good", right? |
