I wouldn't give a rats ass what Plato said so long as it passed the test of naturalistic plausibility and so long as if it was mythical, he related it as myth.

Haven't you ever asked yourself why no one questions the story related under the title Alices Adventures in Wonderland?

Does this help?
You're following the same erroneous path that Kosh, et al have already paved. Where have I claimed that because of good textual support we should believe the New Testament stories to be historical? That's right... I haven't.

I will give you a rat's ass if you can tell me what test you used to determine that metaphysical naturalism is the correct means by which to determine truth.

Trust me, I have plenty of rat asses that have been given to me. They come in handy around the house.

Metaphysical naturalism is not a protocol but, to quote Forrest, "a generalization of the cumulative results of scientific enquiry." You use the term "test". Can you suggest any viable procedural protocol that is discontinuous with methodological naturalism?

Explanatory, predictive and manipulative success is the generally cited criterion. No supernatural explanation can match the power of methodological naturalism. Metaphysical naturalism is the natural extension of that....

Good grief!

Talk about la subjectivité!

What should it matter to you if the text in question pretends to truth or has a long history of reception?

That has absolutely no bearing on the credibility as the documents studied.

Yeah, yeah... You're probably right. It's just that slaying dragons can get kinda boring when you do it day in and day out. Hanging out at the SecWeb provides me with the much needed shot of adrenaline I so desperately crave.

Then whats your reason for wording the title of this post as you have?

Metaphysical naturalism (the methodology)? I am a naturalist and a kind of materialist. I think metaphysical naturalism is a contadiction in terms. And I know people here will not agree.
