Default animation software for macintosh?

know of any good animation software for Mac OSX besides Macromedia Flash? tell me about it please. Flash is killing me (the price of the last update from Flash 5 to Flash 6 was 300$) !

What type of animation? Specifically that which can output Flash content? I think Adobe has a slightly less expensive product called LiveMotion. Also, QuickTime authoring tools are also worth looking into (QuickTime is actually a powerful interactive environment under the hood, although it's mostly thought of as a video format.) Years ago, I used a beta verison of a new piece of Quicktime authoring software... I wish I could remember the name at this point. It was developed by a small Canadian software firm, that's all I can remember at this point.
