I insist that all Brits locate a copy of this month's Viz and read the comic strip entitled "Atheists In Foxholes". :notworthy
For the benefit of others, it starts with a vicar and an aristocrat going foxhunting, the latter hoping to win a ticket to heaven by getting into the good graces of the former. No sooner do they chase the fox to its lair, however, than Bertrand Russell pops his head up and makes a quip about religion being a disease born of fear. Revenge is sweet, though, coming via "a simple treatise on humanistic morality wrapped round a lump of poison". Later on more famous heathens get in the way of the aristocrat going to the pearly gates, but eventually he kills them all, causing the vicar to exclaim "bugger my baptistery!" When the lord finally makes it topside the heavenly paradise is closed due to atheist infestation, St. Peter remarking "some daft shite sent a cartload of the filthy things up here last week." Oh, and Richard Dawkins is taken care of in the following fashion: "I lured 'im out with a provocative paper on intelligent design in mitochondrial DNA, and then smashed 'is 'ead in with a shovel." Viz! :notworthy |
