Perhaps you people might like Hindu, in that religion you're allowed to combine any teachings from other religions that you find inspirational and helpful to you. Or perhaps even buddhism, putting the divine in there, but setting your own goal. Just a thought. If you need the divine in your life, as far as I'm concerned, i think you should seek out the divine which fosters the best in you, and not what you've just been brought up to believe.

But then again, who am i, i have no need for the divine. Nature is awesome enough for my likes.

Another Bill's Goat

Here's another "black Porsche" story from another prominent Christian, Billy Graham that I heard myself when one of his crusades was televised in my area. He claimed that Satan feared the work done by his crusades. He knew this for a fact because he actually had an agent of Satan try to physically prevent him from getting to a particular rally. Who was the "agent of Satan? A GOAT!!! Apparently he was in a pasture with a billy goat who kept chasing and butting him, knocking him to the ground. The goat didn't attack him unless he attempted to stand and flee. Now Graham needed to be at a rally at a particular time and this goat wasn't keen on letting him leave the pasture without a serious bruising. Graham eventually eluded the goat (he prayed for "deliverance" for this agent of Satan) and got to the rally. Graham "interpreted" this territorial activity by the goat as a personal attack by Satan to prevent him from spreading God's word (can you say monster ego, MUCH, Graham baby!).

When I heard this, I almost couldn't believe my ears!!!

Billy Graham said THAT? Anyone who's grown up in the country around goats KNOWS their behavior...

For Gog's sake.. this is NORMAL behavior for a goat..

Now if it stood up on two legs, stuck out a green forked tounge, rotated it's head 180 degrees, and spat green acid at me..

Now THAT'S a truly demonic goat!

And the case grows stronger against Christianity...

Agreed, (on nature that is)

I find all I need from the beauty and solitude of nature.

As far as a supernatural entity... I'll forward him/her/it my new address... If I'm needed please leave a message on the machine!

Thanks for the correcting my mistake! I saw a message on another message board that he said it at the National Religious Broadcasters also, but no documentation. Very interesting and what a hoot! You're probably right in your observation that reading about all that porn (but of course they had to "sacrifice" themselves, reading that stuff) may have scrambled Dobson's brain (his brain seems wired for "scrambling" anyway, considering the things he believes).

The behavior of the goat, who was just being territorial, should not have been unexpected to Graham either. What was not mentioned is what he was doing in the pasture to begin with. I told this story to a friend. Her parents have a few goats because they are all intolerant of cow's milk, but can drink goat's milk. My friend, noting the territorial behavior, commented that maybe the reason the billy behaved as he did was because he thought Graham was there for some "nanny action".

What was even "funnier"(or sadder).... I wasn't watching this alone. The "occassion" was a coffee-klatch/cake party for some of the ladies from the church. These stupid cows just nodded their heads in agreement while intoning "Amen". Not only could I NOT believe my ears upon hearing Graham's little story of persecution by demonic goat, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the reaction of these "adults" (I was 11 at the time) who just lapped up the story as the "gospel truth". I must really have have "incredulity" written all over my face, because one of the ladies asked me why I had such a look. I told them that I thought Graham was wrong about the goat and a couple of them got really mad that I , a child, would have the temerity to question the "integrity and wisdom" of such a "man of God". My mom was also astounded at the remark and their behavior and was offended by them "correcting me". She very politely but firmly told them to knock it off and watch the rest of the sermon. These ladies were never invited back and mom never paid any attention to another thing Graham (nor any other televangelist) said. This was one of the things that started her on her own personal path of deconverstion (as she told me later). She became what I call a Jeffersonian deist.

Ahhh since we're sharing G....

What was hilarious to me as a child was watching the ole 'Ernie' show early Sunday mornings. (conveniently aired right before the 3-stooges) As we prepared for worship services, I would sit and giggle at how fast that short guy could move.. how he could smack a 6 foot 200 pound man in the forehead and cause him to fall straight back. How he could heal terminal brain cancers, how he could make the lame walk, the deaf talk...

sayyyyy baaaaabbbbiieeeeee

Comedy at it's finest. The sad part was the audience waving hundred dollar bills in the air. BOY could he fly down those aisles snatching bills out of the air. I thought he had been banned from the air waves until Evee told me he is still on TV where she lives. Maybe it's just here he's no longer welcomed.

I also became amazed/shocked/frightened/irritated with those who, once entering the building, felt the need to run screeming through the aisles, or flopping like fishes in the aisles. As a young boy... I secretly though.. this is what our God wants????
We are simply play things and amuzement to him.

Good news G... your Mother did take up for you! That made me happy to here.

Pedro, I have posted your message in the News section. I'm thinking it will probably be deleted in short order, but I have no interest in starting a PM eschange with that moron. So, there it is. We'll see what happens (heehee).

Smilin, we actually get snow in large parts of Northern Arizona. Where I am, we occassionally even get snowed in. KLots of trees and everything. I know how much canines like trees.

Weekend in Las Vegas. That's right, have I missed it already? Is that still on?

Okay...when are you people going to Las Vegas?
I hope it's not in the last week of June, since that is the week of my Family (someone shoot me) Reunion.
