And the Bible has shown itself to be inspired my God through it's creation account. . .
Yet, from where I'm sitting, the account of universe/earth history that day-agers accept, based on science, doesnt bear much resemblance at all to the creation account in Genesis. Genesis does state that the universe was created in 6 days, and that there was a recent global flood that killed all terrestrial animals save those on the ark. YECs, atheists, and the vast majority of scholars who have ever commented on Genesis have interpreted it to mean literal 6 days and literal global flood because thats exactly what the text says, very clearly. Period. And it is irrelevant that, out of a vast body of comment on Genesis, a handful of later Christian commentators (2?) may have taken 'days' in Genesis as allegorical, or identified them with the 1000 year 'days' of Peter. The contention is over what the author of Genesis meant, not the church fathers or authors of other books in the bible. |
