I'm glad it's not, really. The ULC has OK ideals, but from what I hear, a good bunch of the people who partake of it are nutters (are upset because the church won't provide them with an excuse to avoid vaccinations, see it as "nondenomination christian", &c.) I couldn't in good concience be ordained there, even if it's just for shits and giggles.

But, this one seems, at least more OK, so I'm a minister now.

I checked out the ULC website. It does seem a bit nutty. They claim that you are an ordained minister whether you apply for it or not.

Under the Federal Constitution"s First Amendment forbidding the Government from establishing religion, there cannot BE any secular laws defining the criteria for being a *cleric*or for (your or anyone here's) establishing a religion.
True, the ULC has made this FACT clear! and it seems "nutty" only because we here in the US of A have been brainwashed by the "majority/organized" "Churches".

YOU, or anyone else here can found a religion; appoint yourself to be a clergyman/-woman(of course); make the RULES of your religion;and do all the other things that the Pope & the archbishop of Caunterbury can do; and no US legal system can do a damn thing to stop you.

Get that straight!

I think that any group is nutty that lets anyone be an ordained minister simply for having surfed on in to the website. Unless, of course, it is the Church of the Websurfers.

This is a good point. At least one can be honest about it that way.

abe, can you claim that automatically everyone in the world is a member of your church? If you could wouldn't that automatically make your church one of the largest in the world even if you were the only one to claim to be a member?

Starboy,

What you are suggesting is not possible for true Christians, true followers of God. A Christian can not be a Christian in private, and then take off their Christianity when they walk out of their house or get out of their car.

A true Christian is one who lets their relationship with God so penetrate their being that it flows out in everything that they do. A true Christian is a Christian 24/7 wherever they are and whatever they are doing because having a relationship with God is the number one thing that defines who they are.

spurly, wouldn't that tend to make Christians intolerant. Under the circumstances you describe a live and let live attitude would be hard to maintain.
