No offense, but I'd say the latter.

I hated punk and I was strictly "Duran Duran" and "Thompson Twins" in the 80s (*hangs head in shame*) and even then I knew who Henry Rollins was.

I still think his music is shit, but he's a brilliant man.

My sentiments exactly. Although I liked some of what Black Flag did. They did a great cover of Television, Drug of the Nation, IIRC.

I've been familiar with Henry Rollins since the '80's, even though I wasn't particularly into his style of music.

Love his spoken word! I'm still pissed that I missed his performance when he came through my home town a while back.

Yeah, I don't like his music either. I mean I like punk and all but I just never liked Black Flag, and I especially don't like Rollins Band. But I think his spoken word/stand up is awesome. He is a really intelligent guy. He just seems to have a knack for telling stories really well. Personally I love his "Eric the Pilot" and "Why didn't anybody tell ME?!" stories, they crack me up everytime. He's had two specials on Comedy Central that were both really good. I love his idea on how to break up the KKK.

He does quite a few serious spoken word stories. There is just something about his voice that just grabs your attention and really conveys the emotion of what he is saying. He came to Philadelphia around a month ago and I missed it, I was extremely pissed off. Especially at my friend who knew two months in advance he was coming and didn't tell me (he assumed that the show wouldn't sell out and was gonna get tickets a couple days before).

He was also in the Movie "The Chase," where he played one of the cops chasing Charlie Sheen. He's also gonna be in "Bad Boys 2" don't know if it's just a cameo but he's in the trailer. I'm pissed off that it's Bad Boys 2 though, I was really excited when I saw the begining of the trailer. It was looking like a good movie about the personal rights, military power etc under a terrorist threat, and it had Henry Rollins in it. KICK ASS! But alas, no, it had to be Bad Boys 2. *sigh*

How did you find a pic of Henry with a shirt on, Monkeybot ? Anyways, IMHO, Henry is the real deal when it comes to music. I have seen him a few times and every time he just comes out and blasts the audience with every thing he's got. He is one of the few preformers who goes on stage with out a gimmick. It has to be seen to be believed. Aside from being a musician he has his own book and music publishing company , and has written about a dozen books. From the looks of every thing I have heard and read about him he is a bright star of inteligence in a world dominated by vapid wastrels like Britney Spears and Korn.

The only thing I've ever seen Henry Rollins in is Full Metal Challenge with Cathy Rogers.

Wasn't Rollins in Johnny Mnemonic with Keanu Reeves a few years back?

Yes.

I really like his song "Liar" from the early 90s, but I haven't listened to much else.

I was lucky enough to catch the Rollins Band at the 1993 Lowlands festival. They were awesome, totally intense. I was never really a fan, but that was on shredder of a gig!

Plus he's built like a pro-boxer, which cannot help but be cool.

Wink

I'm still trying to figure out how we got from Salman Rushdie to Henry Rollins.

Admit it, none of you have read Rushdie either, have you?
