Although I am basing this on anectodal evidence only, the percentage of atheis Russians is one of the highest in the world. And, even though many may say they believe, somehing like only 2 percent belong to the Orthodox church. Yet, many see the Church as something good that was kept away from them for many years by the repressive regime. It is, indeed, a posiblity that schools may soon start teaching Biblical history or such. The general population is educated and IMHO will resist such drastic moves.
