Default Does anyone else thinks Star Wars sucks?

Okay! Please don't chew my clothes off. I understand that the effects were revolutionary in their time, and I understand that its a cult classic and many people grew up with it, but think of the dialogue. Does anyone else cringe when they hear Luke say "but I wanted to go pick up some power converters"? Does anyone think Luke makes the worst face EVER after the "I am your father" bit (no! no! its not true!)?

Am I all alone here?

Mark Hamill is a bit of a ham. I'll go that far.... but the movie itself is great.

The new ones yes, the old ones no. Oh, and you are supposed to cringe when Luke is a whiny kid.

We're supposed to cringe at Anakin in the new ones too, right?

I'm speaking strictly of the old ones. I don't think there is any debating the fact that the new ones suck.

The old ones are good.
I've been spoiled by Stargate and Stargate SG1 now though. For me, it's the greatest scif going, now that Babylon 5 is strictly syndication.

The movie "Stargate"? Do you mean spoiled as in bad milk?

I still like Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back pretty well, but Return of the Jedi gets on my nerves. I can't really say it's a bad movie, I just have zero desire to rewatch it.

The first two Star Wars* movies I think of as... comfortable. Like an old flannel shirt. It's not pretty and it's showing its age, but it still feels good to curl up and eat spaghetti and watch it again.

*The first ones made, I mean. Not the prequels.

I don't even remember seeing these (Star Wars) movies and I loathe them.

I'm a star trek fan myself, that being said, i dont really 'loathe' these movies, although the new ones are horrible.
