The problem is getting them tightened. Modern braces work by using various "rubber band" (probably artificial polymer) chains of various elasticities to pull your teeth together over time. When they put on new chains, about an hour later they feel funny, almost itchy... then there's a dull ache for about three days. And you do this every three to eight weeks depending on the treatment schedule. The first couple times it started out really painfully. I couldn't chew anything the day after I got them tightened for the first time. And the soreness lasted me a week. |

My oldest daughter wants them purely for cosmetic reasons and I'm going to pay for them gladly. Same for my 11 year old. It's just not right to let them go through high school with a mouth full of off centered tombstones.
I guess the stereotype of bad British teeth has some basis in fact... |
