My friend Grape Ape just wrote a response to Wells' petulant drivel as well.

At the "Darwin, Design & Democracy III" event last weekend, Wells didn't make much sense, either, but that's nothing new. What was new (as far as I know) is that when asked about the geological age of the earth, he said he had become so cynical about what scientists say that he is now "agnostic" about the age of the earth! An obvious sop to the YECs in the audience. But do you suppose he really means it?

Who knows what he means. That book of his showed that he can draw some mighty strange conclusions from the data available.

But I think it still all ties in with this ID attempt to undermine mainstream science that's being discussed on the AIDS denial thread. He just knows the conclusion he wants to reach and gets there any way he can.

Wells complains about how unfairly dissedents are treated by the Darwinist establishment in a piece aimed at an ID supporter that doesn't toe the party line.

Oh the irony.

Wells has a point. Since we can't put chemicals in a test tube and have bacteria which took over a billion years to evolve thier basic structure, clearly abiogenisis has been falsified.

Wells is to epistemology what Charles Manson is to responsibility.
