Unfortunately, I know the experience all too well. I tend to speak rather formally, with careful enunciation, and I have an excellent vocabulary. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that this can be intimidating to some people. A friend once said to me, “Michael, you speak as if you expect everyone who’s listening to you to be some kind of genius.” I’ve been told by others that my formal speaking style makes me sound distant and unapproachable.

I've also been told that it makes me sound like I'm "too serious" and that I have no sense of humour. Actually, I do, but it tends to be subtle. I like wordplays and puns that (in my experience) seem to go over the heads of most listeners -- maybe because they aren't expecting me to make a joke, and/or because I tend to do it with a straight face then sit back to see how long it takes for the listener(s) to "get it".

*Sigh* It’s not intentional; it’s just the way that I think. I value precision and accuracy in language as much as I do in other areas.

Cheers,

Michael

1) I'm an atheist - which to me means that once I put some thought into it, I could find no reason to think that anything supernatural exists.

2) I'm terrible at intimate relationships. I was divorced for the second time almost 11 years ago, and I haven't been on a date in almost 5 years. And strangely enough, I'm better for it.

3) My son is the only person that I know for sure that I love, no matter what.

4) I experience bouts of "major" depression, but medication is the worst thing I can do to myself. I gained 35 pounds thanks to SSRIs, and I've been battling to take it off ever since.

5) Small tortoises and turtles are my favorite pets.

6) I'm an acceptably mediocre part-time newspaper photographer.

7) I hate working as a data analyst. It's like doing homework in your least favorite subject 5 days a week. But I don't have the talent and drive to do anything else.

8) I like to commute by bicycle (12 mile round trip).

9) I love classic Simpsons (first few years).

10) I once was a "licensed" Baptist minister in a tiny town in central Illinois. At the age of 17. No regrets.

You left out "I'm a babe" from the above sentence.

If only you were 5-10 years older, not halfway across the world, and interested in boys, you would be my dream girl.

I've heard of it before and I thought of picking it up. Then I took an infectious organisms course and found myself a nice parasitology text.

I should have also mentioned that I am absolutely morbidly fascinated by viruses and the mechanisms of microbial and viral diseases.

Random meaningless fact for the day...

There is a cricket that is somewhere in my house right now...chirp chirp is all I hear. Sucks. It is such a loud cricket too, far more sinister than your regular cricket, it has mutated into this loud obnoxious creature that won't shut up and whats worse I can't find it! all I heard last nigh...chirp...chirp...and it moves around the house the chirp is never in the same place...

anyone know where to locate a schneaky cricket?p
I swear I just lost about 20 IQ points from even writing about this

As I'm sitting here typing out the post, I'm also doing my physics lab report, then I have to do my physics homework too. After, I still have more work to do, which then begs the question why am I wasting time typing this post?
