True I'm new but when one looks at the archives
and sees ENTIRE THREADS devoted to "I just shut down the [fill in name of rival message board]" AND there are congratulations all around, then to ME......that's a bad sign. How do you think I became a member? Scientiae and, to a lesser extent, Wyrdsmyth, created a LOT of trouble (and admitted here that it was purposeful) at ARN. THAT led to an early shutdown for upgrade on March 15th. On that very day a thread was started here "ARN board down for count" in which the perpetrators misstated what had happened. Unable to take it any longer, I became a member--- originally merely to refute the nonsense that was being said about ARN. Only later did I discover that "shutting down" other message boards is close to SOP here. Are there civil, intelligent people here who are respectul of others of other beliefs? Yes. But sometimes I must think them very lonely here. Cheers! |

ARN tore down leonard(e)'s playground there (aptly called IDURC -- the "forum for undergraduate and high school students"), largely because of the poor moderation at ARN. Despite leonard(e)'s best efforts to rebuild it, none of his friends want to come out and play anymore.
That is the reason leonard(e) is here. He is simply bitter. <img src="graemlins/boohoo.gif" border="0" alt="[Boo Hoo]" /> Scientiae |

Untrue. Part of the reason I'm still here is that
my background in religion is MUCH MUCH better than my background in the scientific fields related to origins. Plus I figure that, whatever the truth about biological/human origins, it is LESS relevant to individual humans than religion is: 1)one tells us who and what our ancestors were. 2)the OTHER (potentially)tells us something about what is in store for us beyond the grave (ie something we MIGHT be able to do something about). Since the Shroud of Turin has been a hobby horse of mine for over 2 decades the Turin thread here was right up my alley. But like I said, the whole religion thing has interested me most of my life. I'm a little confused. I've always found the board here to be very reasonable and the creationists to be treated very well. Like someone else said, the only time that things start to get out of hand is when the creationists move from evidence to mindless rhetoric.

Bubba,
Well, perhaps you are correct if you are ONLY talking about the evo forum: 90% of my posting here so far was on the "Shroud of Turin" thread and I found the interlocutors abusive in the extreme, illogical, and ignorant of the very thing that they were ostensibly discussing. But tell me, do YOU see anything wrong with people here bragging about getting banned and/or getting some other message board shut down by their antics? There are entire threads sprinkled throughout the archives here of the "Baptist board down" type, and then the details of the thread tell you that infidels members are taking the "credit" for it!!! Credit for shutting down a message board??? Yet the OTHER people on the threads seem to think that this is either neutral or even laudable. That tells me that a number of people here have no real interest in "discussion" since getting a message board shut down ends the discussion. Cheers! |

Hey folks, how about you continue that discussion over in Rants or somewhere... it's just a tad off topic, no?

I agree. Leonard has turned himself into a troll. His very admission that he finds biological/human origins irrelevant indicates that there is no other reason for his participation on this forum.

Irrelevant? No way, Jose! Still, most of this message board (80% of it) is NOT about origins.

Time for you, Leonarde, to stop farting about too. What, if any, variety of creation do you believe in? Do you want to talk hominid fossils, or synapsids, or 'intelligent design', or what? Put up or shut up. TTFN, Oolon |

I retract the 'deranged' part.... However, this should be put in perspective. This 'DNAunion' (Rick Pierson) is the same person that posted the names of my coworkers on this very board (and at least one other that I can recall) some time ago, 'threatening' to tell them that I am a meanie on the internet(Doubtless, Rick will protest this as he never actually explicated such a 'threat'; instead, he wrote their names and "wondered aloud" about what they might think of some of my internet posts). That sort of thing is precisely what several anonymous anti-Darwinists have claimed keeps them from revealing their identities - I guess they don't want to have happen to them what they see their pals doing to some evolutionists that actually have relevant credentials and education. The anti-Darwinist types always seem to resort to such tactics. The ARN moderator threatened to send a registered letter to my employer because I had registered under a pseudonym after being banned. What my employer had to do with it, I have no idea. But, desperate as the anti-Darwinist is, nothing surprises me anymore. But, yes, I am a jerk. My bad. No hard feelings, OK Rick buddy?
