another point: never use superglue for something that will have stress put on new bond. Superglue is great for putting china back together, lousy for attaching anything that has a load-bearing stress.
Epoxy is your friend in this situation. |

you should be able to weld aluminium. it is a weldable metal. unless you have an aircraft grade. but i guess a pin is a little small to weld. note. aluminium does not glow red like steel when hot. it just suddenly goes liquid when you are welding it, and it looks pretty much the same (kinda shiny) as solid al.
epoxy is probably your best bet, if you can rap it in a cloth of some sort and epoxy the whole lot. |

Your user name gives the reason for the problem. The bonding requires clean surfaces but because aluminium is so reactive a clean aluminium surface is hard to obtain and welding on a small scale is not worth the trouble. Buy another one.
