But the relative current day standard of living has got fuck all to do with the basic point.

So complaining about the the comparison failing to take account of the relative current day standard of living is kinda missing the point.

Perhaps it does depend. But then again, if the invader was the supporter of the very dictator you despise, and has a record of cozyinig up to dictators, you might be a bit skeptical.

I have to take exception to this statement. I agree that the vast majority may not ever become personally aquainted to the brutality of a totalitarian regime. Its brutality is not limited to only those individuals you mentioned.

I find this hard to believe. I've seen the Chinese press before--*VERY* biased. It's possible that an international channel is different but I doubt the difference is big.

It's not so much spin per se but rather selective reporting.
