Why do we think what we think? Whoa, John, that's a sneaky wee question!

The 'why' bit is what is clever...are you asking 'for what purpose?', or 'how?'.....

For what reason do we think, that absent that reason, we would not be here.

If this, then, constitutes the organ by or through which we know and think truth, and at the same time it is where *I* reside, then it is my thinking that is *I*.

Yep...the brain is the organ with which we 'think' (amongst other things, of course).

And yes I agree that it is through this matter that we formulate what we call 'truth' (or 'truths').

It is also through the brain that we construct our concept of a unified sense of 'self.'

Thinking = 'I' ... Therefore, 'I' is a process or event.

What is 'thinking', though? And how does 'truth' fit in?

Thinking <=> process *I*

Thinking is one part of reality considering the information from its environment.

So....if thinking is indeed equivalent to the process of identity formation, then thinking and identity are the result of the 'consideration' of information from the environment.

There has to be a middle-man in there somewhere, doesn't there? I mean, how does 'consideration' actually work?

The process of identity formation is part of thinking. If it was the only part, then we shouldn't wonder "why?"

Charming.

I was talking about something else...how do we 'consider' is what I'm asking.

[Edited to add]

With what do we consider? (for clarification) .. and I'm not talking about the basic brain matter here.
