I agree. I don't think you can "blame Christianity" per se; but from afar it looks to me like there were quite a few people, her husband and preacher included, who should have seen the signs; they should have been willing to do more than "trust in God", and acknowledge that perhaps they and their church didn't have all the answers. I agree with Helen that "overly-simplistic attributions of blame" are undesirable but at the same time I'd love to see the non-action of the people closest to her tested in some way.

You shouldn't get away with abandoning another human being just because you happen to be a member of the predominant religion.
