Okay, I know this is a very "niche" question, but here goes anyway:
I need to interface several fiber-optic modules to our local cable company's equipment at their head-end. The problem is, they use the green SC/APC connectors (angle-polish) while my equipment uses the blue SC/PC connectors. I'm getting way too much loss by trying to use SC/APC patch cables. Does anyone know of a company that sells either SC/PC to SC/APC adapters, or will make custom cables that don't cost as much as the friggin' Iraq war? Thanks. Vicar |

I don't have a solution, but I admire the problem.
What scares me, is I both understood and sympathized with the whole post. I am such a geek. |

Umm... what about making your own custom connector?
I did never do it myself, but if your university has a laser physics department, that's the place to go for custom making your own fiber with an SC connector at one and PC or APC at the other end. I know people who made themselves fiber-optic connectors for scientific purposes, but I'm afraid flying a competent person to the US and purchasing the equipment you need for building your adapter will cost more than the Iraq war. ![]() |
