Question Jesus Was A Gillnetter

Saw that on a bumper sticker today and I can't figure out what it means.

I know what a gillnet is, but I wonder what the writer of the sticker and/or owner of the car mean to say:

a) gillnetting is fishing and Jesus is a "fisher of men", so Jesus uses a gillnet; or

b) gillnetting indiscriminately traps, tortures and kills all sorts of marine life and christianity has been known to, as well.

What do you think?

It sounds derogatory to me, but I don't think it has any real deep meaning. It's more like a general retort to the "fisher of men" thing. Sort of like saying "Jesus is lame".

It seemed derogatory to me, too. I guess I was wondering if this person was a xian or a fellow non believer.

If xian, it reminds me of the giant jebus fish devouring the Darwin fish.

I think it was a pro-gillnetting sticker more than anything else. Reference here

By Jove, I think you're right. I guess that gillnetting just has negative connotations for me. And I'm sure that I'm not the only one, so I wonder how effective that particular bumpersticker is at communicating its intended message.

Jesus was obviously a cast-netter, not a gill-netter. That sticker owner was a definite unbeliever and detractor of the faith.
