Philosophy is not taught in public schools and only rarely in private ones.

This is the result of the move away from Classical Education.

There is growing interest in home schooling among atheists and agnostics. If anyone is interested in precisely what texts and curriculums are available for teaching philosophy, rhetoric, logic, Latin, etc., to children you may contact me through my email and I will give you online resources and secular email groups which are dedicated to this pursuit.

I think that in all Norwegian universities they have a philosophy program that all students must take sooner or later:

<a href="http://www.uio.no/english/ects/general/exphil.html" target="_blank">Examen Philosophicum and Examen Facultatum</a>

We certainly don't have this in Sweden. It sounds like a good way to break into University level studies and the pace and work required there.

In India philosophy is not a required course at secondary levels; you can take it as an option at the plus two.
Bitching: teaching humanities is going to hell here. More emphasis is being placed on job-oriented careers, which is neccessary, but no new funds for philosophy or objective study of history or even of religion.

A semester long introduction to philosophy course was offered at my public high school. I took it my senior year.

The course dealt with creating/analyzing formal arguments, issues like the meaning of life, existence of god, some of the well known holistic philosophies, such as existentialism, free will vs determinism, etc.

Hmm... a whole lot more was covered but I can't remember right now. <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />
