How about;
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension Heavy Metal Fritz the Cat Those should be there somewhere I just need to find Evil Dead 2 to fill out my collection. Scarface??! I remember that as a commercial success. Al Pacino has better candidates than that. |

Well, the list recovered a little credibility with that.

What criteria did they use? I am with bocajeff, an Oscar Nominated picture is sort of anti-cult film isn't it?
That's a weird list. |

To me a cult film is one that maintains a small clique of nutty fanatics. The fact that it's also got an enormous mainstream following also doesn't necessarily take away from that. Duck! |

I'm with Huginn and Duck: General popularity does not a cult movie make. To me, Star Wars et al are just like what popular religions are to small cults like David Koresh.
Did anything by Jodorowski make the list, say Santa Sangre? He's the very definition of a cult director. My forum name is from one of his more insane movies. |

How about Logan's Run? I am about to hit Carrousel later this year. I just know I'll be reborn. Star Trek The Motion Picture or Wrath of Kahn Wizard of Oz (think Dark Side of the Wizard) and Sound of Music might also be on the list as there are midnight showings and audience participation opportunities with both movies. |

They should have just listed #26 as Any Troma movie How about Logan's Run? I am about to hit Carrousel later this year. I just know I'll be reborn. Excellent example of a cult classic and one I had forgotten about. Star Trek The Motion Picture or Wrath of Kahn Good movies and IMO the latter is the best Star Trek movie to date. However, I don't consider it a cult classic because its a bit too mainstream. Wizard of Oz (think Dark Side of the Wizard) and Sound of Music might also be on the list as there are midnight showings and audience participation opportunities with both movies. I guess it depends on your definition of "cult classic". I've always viewed "cult classics" as generally B-grade movies that have a small but loyal following. If a movie has won an Oscar, or even been nominated for one, I don't consider it even eligible for cult classic status. However, if we are going to include movies like Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music, we would also need to include Its a Wonderful Life and 10 Commandments. It might be better just to label those as simply classics and not cult classics, but thats just my opinion. I also remembered the movie Flash Gordon, which I consider a good candidate for cult classic status. |

I know that the erotic version 'Flesh Gordon' had a certain cult following at my university.
