Well, my daughter is almost 41, so I'd say at least 42 for females. And my grandson is 16, so 16 for males sounds about right.

Nope--the most common value is 16. Look here

14 for sex involving a female. 18 for sex involving two males.

Yes, but anal sex with a female is also at eighteen. As I said, I expect the discrimination against homosexuality to end before too long.

Yeah, swell. That way a 6 year old can have sex with Aqualung as long as the authorities are satisfied that the kid is able to give informed consent.
Whatcher point?

As if our jails weren't overcrowded enough already. They're going to hell anyway, so why try to dissuade them from exercising their free will?

Wow.

Edit: It occurs to me, Calzaer, that the allusion to "Aqualung" may be meaningless to you. It's the title of an old Jethro Tull song about a wrinkled up old bastard who, among other things, "eyes little girls with bad intent".

Do you remember
December's foggy freeze
When the ice that clings onto your beard
Was screaming agony
And you catch your rattling last breaths
With deep-sea diver sounds
And the flowers bloom like madness in the spring...
I'm a huge Tull fan, thanks. Aqualung actually does more than "eye" them... in the song "Cross-Eyed Mary":

Quote:
Laughing in the playground
Gets no kicks from little boys
Rather make it with a leching grey
Or maybe her attention's
bought by Aqualung
Who watches through the railings as they play...
However, that's completely beside the point. If the people in charge have decided that Cross-Eyed Mary can give informed consent, and gives her a license to do so.... where's the problem? She can make an informed decision, the licensing agency has provided us with prima facia evidence of that. And anyone who can give informed consent can have sex with (just about) anyone they chose.

I'd ask if this had something to do with your "anyone having sex under 21 should be put in prison" policy, but somehow I get the idea you're slightly more mortified about this occurance than one involving a child a few years older who has also been given the Informed Consent certification.

And, once again, they're both going to hell anyway. Why are you trying to dissuade the kid from exercising free will? Even God doesn't interfere on that level...

Let me get this straight - you think a six year old getting it on with an adult is no problem as long as the government verifies her capacity to give informed consent?

The only problem with young children having sex (apart perhaps from purely physical concerns) is that they can't give informed consent. If they can show to an independant body they can indeed give informed consent, then that concern is lifted. Is there another obstacle? Due to differences in physical size, I wouldn't object to the lowest licensable age being, say, 12, or come with the onset of sexual maturity (require a physical as part of the certification process). Surely you could agree to that too; to limit sexual reproduction to a completely arbitrary number is very anti-family.

May I take this as a yes?
