You actually was expecting him to serve time?

That was never very likely on that particular charge.

If he ever goes behind bars it is more likely going to be for his tax dodging or possibly contempt of court.

The records list the status of the charge as <a href="http://singlesourceservice.securedata.net/INTERIORpages/terms/Legal%20Terms/nolle%20prosequi.htm" target="_blank">Nolle Prosequi</a>. The previous link is what I found via google.

The charges can be reinstated if the prosecutors so descide.

I would guess that the witnesess started contradicting themselves, and/or Hovind came to an arrangement about the rent.
