I wouldn't mind an excuse to cook Halibut marinated in Jamaican Jerk sauce and grilled on the barbecue. Oh good grief---
now I made myself hungry. Forget Friday or lent, fish is great if you get the right kind and is cooked properly.

I never understood the whole meatless on Friday thing for Catholics. Why should God care if I eat a burger on Friday? Doesn't he have better things to worry about?

I once managed to eat a bacon cheeseburger on a Good Friday that fell during the month of Ramadan. I think I broke the dietary restrictions of Catholicism, some variants of Protestantism, Judaism, Islam, and Hinduism in a single bite!

Not so good for the arteries, though.

Many of my employees, even some Mexicans, were suprised the first day of Lent to see the people with the ashes daubed on their foreheads.
We had an all school mass on Ash Wednesday, so probably 75% of the students had ashes on their foreheads. I felt like I was in the middle of a big cult ; ). And you should have heard the homily the priest gave during mass. It was something like "we're all sinners, so we should wear ashes on our foreheads that make us look ugly to symbolize that we're bad, bad, very bad people. Don't ever forget how very, very bad we all are and how very, very good God is." Not his exact words, but not too far off.

Ah, fond childhood memories of fish sticks, tater tots, and tuna casserole (the kind with the potato chips). My mom admitted the other night that sometimes she forgets its Friday (the joys of retirement) and has the wrong thing. A couple extra Hail Mary's should get her off the hook...

You must have a pretty boring fucking life to think that eating meat on friday is having a good time. Why don't you try reading your bible again to see if you migt have missed it the first time? You should actually do that so you can tell those Catholics how wrong they are.

Thumbs down Aww... man!

The Pope did revoke that ruling but old habits die hard and most Catholics continue to follow the rule.
Now what fun is it to sit and eat a big juicy burger on a Friday in front of your Catholic friends? The Pope is ruining all my fun! It's just like how drinking is really cool before you're 21, and afterwards, it's no big deal. What a bummer.

Not that I really give a shit WHAT the Pope says...

It's not that eating meat on fridays is having fun, but going out to a restaurant with my friends is pretty enjoyable, but they usually don't want to go if it's friday. Plus I was being somewhat hyperbolic.

I don't think I want to read through the whole bible right now just to confirm that it does not mention lent, but thanks to the wonders of technology, I don't have to. A search on Biblegateway.com only turns up words like "violent" and "plenty." I'll remember that for future reference. Unfortunately, for Catholics, the bible doesn't have to say you should celebrate something for them to celebrate it, so they probably won't give a shit that the bible doesn't mention lent.

Well I like fish and I like Lente (capital L). Did you know that Lente was for Catholics only? In fact, in some denominations Easter means nothing so how could they know about Lente . . . or did you think it was just something else to celebrate?
