Unhappy Writing this paper is bringing me down

So I've been researching all day for my religious studies paper (due friday ) which is about Establisment Clause violations and secular rights. The more research I do, the more distressed I get - it seems like the whole country is against us. At least it's giving me plenty of material...

Another part that brings me down though is that I get really into the things I'm learning as I research, but I know anyone here in my "real" life will probably think I'm crazy if I go on a rant about getting god of my money. It's making me feel quite alone...

Depressed and beaten!?!? HAH! I myself feel like an amused observer watching the sappy wobbleheads run through their daily dramas. Plus that recent article some nice IIer pointed out somewhere had a terrific quote that sums it all up.

Quote:
A man truly awake does not need religion. He doesn?t need gods. He doesn?t need miracles. He doesn?t need holy lands here below or celestial heavens up above. For him, life in this universe is itself holy, as is every patch of ground and every path he walks. Life itself is enough of a miracle. To believe in a god who made this life is to believe in a miracle even greater than this miracle. Who needs more than one unfathomable miracle? Existence is a fluke, a freak, a wonder, a dream, a bizarre uncanny thing. Our own consciousness of this existence is so incredible a phenomenon that I don?t understand why anyone feels the need to believe in anything else more ?spiritual.? It?s all spiritual. It?s all true magic. Why add imagined magic to explain the magic that is right before us?
Basically what I'm saying is take pleasure in being "truly awake" and don't sweat what the wobbleheads are doing.

I know CX, and most of the time it doesn't bother me...but recent events have slammed it into me pretty hard...caused family fights etc.

I definately do, it's just that sometimes it sure feels lonely being the only one awake in a sea of "wobbleheads"...

Hmm, I'll consider it. I'm not a big smarty pants like lots of the other infidels around here, but I try. Also, the paper is due at 1 p.m. tomorrow. It's now 1 a.m. and I'm still working on my intro. Procrastination at it's finest. But we'll see how it turns out and if I feel comfortable posting.

And thanks for the support guys

Yeah, I can relate. If you read my other thread you know my mom, who I've never had so much as a heated discussion with, is pretty upset right now. In fact we haven't spoken since our last confrontation, though she is away on bible retreat in St. Louis for a week so she may have cooled off by now. For whatever reason I tend to view things in a rather detached way. Maybe it's the 30mg/day of Paxil.

It's a bitch ain't it? Fortunately for me I'm married to an atheist and I work in computer science which is loaded with agnostics or apathetic religionists. Hang in there. There is a much bigger world out there that's full of people just like you.
