Unhappy Iraq Success Slipping Away...

See HERE:
Quote:
A team of outside experts dispatched by the Pentagon to assess security and reconstruction operations in Iraq reported yesterday that the window of opportunity for achieving postwar success is closing and requires immediate and dramatic action by U.S. military and civilian personnel.

The team concluded that the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority in charge of reconstruction efforts is isolated and underfunded and recommended that U.S. officials move immediately to internationalize the daunting task of rebuilding Iraq, particularly in light of "rising anti-Americanism in parts of the country."
All Bush has to do is swallow his pride and ask France, Germany, and the rest of the UN Security Council to step up to the plate and help out. At this point, Bush has nothing to lose but his pride, and which is worth more: Bush's pride or the safety and security of millions of Iraqi people (not to mention the US taxpayers who are, so far, footing the bills alone)?

You guessed it, of course: Bush's pride is worth more than all of those common folks put together, so of course, he will categorically reject the findings of this report, right?

Do you think a man who exhorts guerrila militants to attack his own troops would ever apologize to the two countries who tried to keep his soldiers away from said guerrila militants?

Bleh, Bush will never give up a share of the oil for just a few less dead American soldiers. Besides, France already said that they were not going to send troops (because they don't have anything to gain from it anyways).

As a german I am pretty sure that there will be no help from Germany whatsoever without a UN resolution. Given german history illegal activities of german soldiers on foreign soil are about the most suicidal thing a german government could do.
Personnally I'd say a UN decision to help the US out seems unlikely to me unless there is a government change in the US. Many nations would probably enjoy showing Bush the finger too much, even at the cost of the Iraqis - as sad as that is. European government tend to behave a little childish too - just look at the hoopla over Berlusconi calling some German a nazi at the european parlament.

I really hope Europe will not be dragged into this. It is entirely self inflicted and therefore deserves no pitty or help.
The US will now, at least in the Sunni area get a lesson, of how it feels to be an occupation force in hostile land.
They are xians. They should remember that he who lives by the sword will die by the sword.

Bill: All Bush has to do is swallow his pride and ask France, Germany, and the rest of the UN Security Council to step up to the plate and help out.

Response: Pride requires a sense of shame. Bush motivation derives from the vast fortune that he and his friends now control, formerly known as Iraq. Bush has demonstrated not only is he willing to swallow for the right price, but when properly motivated he is willing to turn around and take it in the rear also. Anything for the oil team.

I agree entirely, which is why I'm pushing for regime change here in the United States.

While Bush will almost certainly not pursue a UN resolution that would entice German participation, Howard Dean almost certainly will. So, the only way out is by voting in the guy who will make things happen. Unfortunately, the election won't come soon enough for the many tens of additional dead American soldiers between now and the first Tuesday in November, 2004.....

What makes us so sure, that if we asked nicely, France and Germany would send their young people to die because of a mess we made, against their advice and protest? The Germans have already lost people in Afghanistan, for the US, and gotten precious little thanks in return.

Because, Sakpo, acting in that way is part of the New World Order (NWO).

Maybe not France, but Germany and Russia have already floated hints that if the USA would obtain a proper resolution from the Security Council, they could be counted upon to participate.
