According to the OP, I'm both young and old at the same time. I guess I'm an in-betweener.

Is that actually this years list? I am twenty-three, and Popples, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Duck Tales, Pogs, and TMNT seems more appropriate for my age than for people four or five years my junior, but perhaps it extended to them as well. Oh, and the only person I recognize from number one is Orsen Wells. I have never even heard of anyone actually getting a telegram.

Well, if you don't mind high per-page costs, my fax machine will copy. It's a <$100 el-cheapo unit.

Well, Hewlett Packard and Epson have combination printer/scanner/copiers starting at $100 dollars, once you account for Epson's mail in rebate, and I would assume that at least some of the other major manufacturers of printers offer similar products.

Ahh... but I yearn for the smell of a freshly made ditto.

I think it's more a matter of culture gap than a generation gap. Most of the things you mentioned mean absolutely nothing to me, and Im 26.

Item 21 was especially confusing, but then I realized that Datsuns are not the same as dachshunds. I still don't quite know what #21 means, but the image of a dachshund-factory will remain with me forever.

a popple is a stuffed animal with a pouch on its back, and you can turn the pouch inside out and pop the popple in the pouch. And then you can pop it out. Fun fun.

I was a popple for halloween once.

edit: A popple fan page.

edit again: on the "stuffed popples" page, my popple is the orange one on the top row.

ROFL

FYI: Datsun was a Japanese car company that either changed its name to, or was bought by, Nissan circa 1980.

Oh, c'mon, you've gotta give us more cultural credit than that!

First thing that comes to my 20-year-old mind when you say "Paul Newman" is not "salad dressing maker."

I'm 26 and I never heard of any of these except Welles and the USFL

Shouldn't Elvis be on this list somewhere?
