Default Cat troubles

My cat has been having some problems lately, on Fri. vet diagnosed her with constipation, but on sat. she was peeing about every half an hour (and during the night waking me up every time she has to go). Things seem a lot better today, constipation problem is over and peeing frequency seems back to normal. However, things seemed better yesterday afternoon as well, and there were problems during the night, too. However, now I am sick since almost no sleep for 3 nights aggravated my existing health problem. I am not sure what to do now. At the moment she seems perfectly fine. She peed only twice today, constipation problem is solved.

The questions are:

1) If she is fine during the night, do I need to bring her to the vet tomorrow. She hates going to the vet, and it is extremely difficult to put her in the carrier, so I don't want to bring her unless it is necessary. When I put her in the carrier she meows in such a way as if she is in awful pain, it makes me feel so guilty for doing it.

2) I am supposed to travel to Singapore on Sat. Should I postpone the trip? I am worried about leaving my cat, somebody will come feed the cats twice a day but I am still worried about whether he'll notice if she has problems again. Also, I don't feel too well myself. On the other hand, I'd hate postponing the trip.

Is she supposed to go to the vet for a follow-up exam? If that is all that it is, you could call the vet and let them know that she is okay and ask if the exam is still necessary.

Saturday is far enough away that you should be able to determine by then if she is fully recovered. If not, you might consider boarding her at the vets during your absence.

Now....about your own health. You'll have to judge whether you feel up to a trip to Singapore or not. Hopefully, you'll feel better in a day or so and the cat will be well and all will work out okay.

Good luck.

In my completely impartial, unbiased, objective and well-thought out opinion, DON'T CANCEL YOUR TRIP!!!!!!!

pretty please?

Oh well, family first, if you must.

Linda:
He didn't mention anything about follow up. Cat seems much better but still not completely OK. Vet didn't give her anything for urinary problems, just constipation. If there is one more night of no sleep for both of us, I guess I need to bring her there.

As for plenty of time till Sat., I am supposed to pick up the ticket tomorrow. I'll call the travel agent in the morning, try to see when is latest time when I can pick up the ticket, if it is possible to wait few more days I'll wait. If not, I guess it would be better to postpone. Boarding at the vet is not a good idea since a) cages are very small b) my two cats hate to be separated c) she is very spoiled and would never eat Science diet dry food which is only thing vet would provide d) there is no one there on Sundays.

As for my own health, I am in pain but can manage. Cat is the problem. I'd never forgive myself if I go on a trip and smth. happens to her. But on the other hand, seems silly to postpone the trip if she is fine.

Celsus:
Not cancel, postpone for two weeks. If I miss this infidels meeting, there will be other opportunities, I am usually in Sg several times a year.

in case you need it- getting a cat in a carrier:

Stick the cat in backwards.
(It works with my Fred. Frontwards, it's all four legs resistance!)

The best way is to have the carrier always around and give it treats in there. Make it think of the carrier as something positive.

about putting the cat in the carrier:

tried both approaches, but not much success. carrier is around, she sometimes sleeps inside. However, it is extremely tough to get her in when I want her in. Puting her in the carrier backwards is of course easier but not always successful. She seems a bit better, but she woke me up at 5 am for no reason and I am worse. Hmph.

I am sorry. Just concentrate on feeling better and closely monitoring the kitty...if by Wednesday things haven't improved you can postpone your trip.

I hope everything is okay
