Default Confucious

After seeing a recent show on Confucious on the History Channel I decided to do a little more research into this man.

Apparently an exception man, and much under estimated by the West.

He lived around 400 years before "Christ" in China which was dominated by warlords, corruption, and poverty at the time.

The Maoist takeover fo China also makes mor esense in light of the Confucian tradition of China as well, as much of Confucious' teachings are very close to that of Marxism.

Confucious was again class separation and he created a school for people of all classes, arguably hte most liberal school in the history of the world at that time. He invited poor and rich people alike to his school, which taought philosophy, math, reading, writing, etc.

Confucious believed that poverty is the product of oppression and lack of education and that education is the key to ending human suffering and establishign an enlightened and prosperous state.

He opposed the profit motive and said that a great man is concerned with what is right and a small man is concerned with what is profitable.

He skope out against oppression and class separation and developed a system of government that was designed to put and end to class separation in a way that would benfit all people. None of the warlords would abide his ways though.

He traveled all over China trying to find someone who would impliment is his system of government and they all rejected him. He was threatened with his life and almost killed several times though his students and followers helped to prevent this by protecting him.

He died believing himself to be a failure, but he had written much of his philosophy down and his teachings slowly took root in China as generations passed as more liberal an enlighted youth took power. The Confucion way of life came to dominate China and China became one of the most wealthy and advanced region of the world until Marco Polo entered the land and introduced it to the West. Once the West began trading and exploiting the West much of the wealth of China was lost to Europe and class divides again grew in China as some Chinese choose to favor trade and association with the West and helped in exploiting their fellow men. This of course led China on a downward spiral that culminated in the rise of Maoist Communism and the expulsion of the Wester intruders, but China would never be the same again.

In my short study of Confucious he seems to have been one of the most enlightened people of all time, way ahead of his time, and even ahead of our present time. I would say that of all people I have read about Confucious' philosophy seems to be most like that of my own. I agree a lot with Marx as well, but I like Confucious' focus on education and spreading virture by way of education and association, not revolution and oppostion, which is the Marxist way.

Malachi151 may be remaking Confucius in his likeness.

However, Confucius allegedly claimed in his old age, that

At age 20, I wanted to reform the world
At age 40, I wanted to reform my village
At age 60, I wanted to reform myself

It's really too bad he was a sexist and a little too "family values"-ish. However, his more philosophical truisms are really something.

But yeah, how exactly is this at all relvenat to PD? Are we trying to compare Confucian society to other societies or something?

Nostradamus predicted as much in Quatrain 208:

The board shall rise in the spider's den
The heathen children adhere to it gladly

More proof that if you write a lot of vague poetry and let a lot of people in on it, you too could be a prophet hundreds of years after your death.

Also, Arken may have been making it up. Consider these bogus Nostradamus prophecies. But he certainly imitated the style of that gentleman's "prophecies".

As George Washington never said, I cannot tell a lie. I made it up.
