This quote has never really been authenticated. Unfortunately snopes is blocked at work so I can back it up. Can someone else help me out?

I certainly think Bush is dumb enough to have said that, but I don't think he really did.

Snopes says it is "undetermined". It could have happened -- the meeting between Bush and Brazilian representatives did occur -- but the actual comment is not documented. They say, "This items sounds like, at best, a second-hand account recounted months after the fact, one which to many seems a little too perfectly ironic in that, of all the people present at the meeting, it has Condoleezza Rice intervening and fixing up Bush's embarrassing inquiry (a black woman with superior knowledge coming to the aid of a "racist" white man in trouble)."
