Okay... I'm suspect that most reading this will not be familiar with my pointing out that during the 1st century, Grecophonic readers would have interpreted Josephus' two references to "christos" (if they were actually _there_, which I doubt) with a great deal of puzzlement....
From what I understand, the term "christos" for someone not familiar with the idiosyncratic use amongst LXX-using Jews (a minority population in the Roman Empire) or the nascent Christian communities (an even smaller minority), would have been interpreted as "ointment" or "linament", with the explicit "for external use only" meaning being carried with it.... That makes this find all the more amusing to me: http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/tm/med/med286.html Enlarge the image; read the text. I guess this stuff didn't work on heathens or any other non-Christians (unless, of course, they were horses or cows). Enjoy... godfry |

Not to mention, it recently came to light that one of the key ingredients in the sacred annointing oil the Jewish priests, and later Jesus used, was cannabis!
