Hello agapeo,

Quote:
Well, of course not, David. Are you obligated to love me?
David: I do love you, agapeo.

Love,

Pardon the commentary, but could not help but notice a favorite topic. There is no human here that fully understands love, yet we seek to fill the love-void on a daily basis, in some form or another. Just another interesting paradox; we want some thing that we don't even fully understand.

(How is the concept/Being God any different?)

I welcome correction

Hello Helen,

Quote:
It certainly seems odd to me that if he is, 'love' excludes 'caring'.
David: As a Christian I am not obligated to care about anyone else's opinions. I care about the person, not the person's opinions.

Sincerely,

David Mathews

Hello Helen,

How do you know that, David?
David: Know what? Could you clarify the question?

Thanks,

Thank you for the distinction. I suppose perhaps you have been clear on this all along; I can't remember, to be honest.

What a person thinks is part of who they are. If you care about the person, then doesn't it follow that you would care about what they think?

Saying you love me, David is not the same as showing it. I suggest you re-read 1 Corinthians 13 and think about whether what it says there includes an tad bit about caring about what others think. What we think influence what we do, so it seems only loving to care about what someone thinks, if you care about them doing the right thing. What do you think, huh?

Hello agapeo,

David: Jesus loved people who hated Him, I suppose that means that Jesus did not care about these people's opinions regarding Himself.

David: Your thoughts are your own. 1 Corinthians 13 does not obligate Christians to care about what people think. I care about people who hate me, that would not be possible if I was concerned about what they thought of me.

Sincerely,

David Mathews

I think you are using different meanings of the word 'care' and that is rather confusing.
