I don't want to get to technical and I am still looking for an article to put into layman terms, but technology exists where an unlimited number of users can broadcast unlimited data across the entire spectrum and can be read by a single device. This eliminates the need for the FCC and opens the spectrum to everyone.
Huh? Outside of big cities there's plenty of room on the dial already but the FCC has made stations of less than 100 watts illegal and larger stations are much more costly and usually need money from advertisers. (Corporate stations.)

So far the FCC has shown absolutely no respect to the idea of the radio for everyone. Radio is only for those with a lot of money. They will obviously try to maintain this status quo in the future.

Good link though. I'm pretty cynical that it will ever come to be allowed but I'll definitely check up on it.

I don't know why people are jumping on AdamSmith. What he stated is actually a good idea. Hit them where it hurts, in the pocket book. If you want to protest send them e-mails as well. But don't send them e-mails and continue to support them financially. What's the point of that? It reminds of those people that protest when a Wal-Mart comes to town, but then they go and buy all of their groceries there. WTF?

Yes, let's all just vote with our dollars. Who needs a democratic government? How about every single time we buy something it will be the result of a well thought out decision based on a thorough investigation of said company? Easy enough.....

(In some bizarre fantasy land that bears no relation to reality.)

Who said anything about getting rid of a democratic government? Not supporting them financially is just another bullet to add to your arsenal of protest. It's easy and it's practical. That's not to say that that is the only thing that can be done. Sheesh. But if you would rather reinforce their tactics financially (their primary goal), have it your way.

Sorry, didn't take into account you wanted to do this on top of other things. For what it's worth I think boycotts are not the greatest idea (maybe with a few exceptions.) They can just get people calling each other hypocrites and many people are far too poor to vote with their dollars.

Furthermore many on the fiscal right usually think this is the only thing necessary to ensuring a well functioning society.

I've been too busy lately to notice the replies and defend myself, so thanks those of you who did!

I am not a troll. I have been on this board for months now commenting on several topics. I have also met some of my fellow infidels from this board who live near me. Do your research before making that accusation (or any accusation). As was kindly pointed out, I believe we have to take an active role in changing things. I was trying to make you aware and facilitate. We have already lost too much media diversity, fairness and accuracy.

Perhaps shouldn't have given such a plug for Moveon, but was easier to cut and paste. There are other sites (too few) trying to draw attention to this critical issue. (Check out transcripts of NOW with Bill Moyers. Fortunately he has done a couple shows about it.) or FAIR's website. So stop discussing me, and goto the FCC comment page.

anyway, thanks again to my defenders! (I'm a she, btw)

Trolls don't normally have a post count of 262.
