No offense, Stormy, but I'm sure Cardinal Law was considered a "good, solid Catholic Christian". <shrug>

If it makes you feel any better; humanity, irrespective of it's myriad religions and cults, could do better.

What annoys me is the belief that atheists have no moral fibre because they have no god-belief to "guide" them like Christians do. You can see for yourself in the world around you (this thread included) that this is simply not true.

In my other life, I hang out with abuse desk people, and blackice is a frequent source of "Something on your machine originated a connection from port 80 trying to hack into my machine" complaints. (In other words, "I visited your web page, why are you sending me packets?")
yes..
and there is a green, yellow, and red threat assessment.

green being low threat (such as a scan of the whole server, not just your individual machine)

many websites probe your machines (you always get a warning with these)

and the red ones are the biggies.. these are the ones coming directly at your machine...

In short, blackice is only as good as you configure it to be. You teach it over time what to ignore... (as in a website simply reading your cookies for advertisement sales)

And it also keeps logs, statistics, and graphs activity.
yes,, it WILL warn you when offered an usoicited packet... (it has a library to explain why).. it's best feature is when someone starts sending packets.. AND WON'T STOP..lol.. (a nuke).
Those 'packet monkies' are the ones you're most worried about.

You're not alone. I became very disillusioned over Christianity, found I wasn't very welcomed any more at CF... so came here to hang out...

I find the company here friendlier, non-judgemental, and couldn't give a hairy rat's ass over my 'personal beliefs'.

That's because there are no hairy rat's asses in the house. You see, we use weapons of mouse destruction to rid us of this rodent evil.

yes, socializing with atheists, pagans, and heathens has taught me they REALLY don't eat babies or kittens..

However,,,virgin sacrifices is another topic...

One of the interesting things I've noticed is that Evangelical Christians are among the most powerful forces in the universe for turning even the slightest doubt into a deconversion. Evangelical atheists are a distant, distant, second. Friendly atheists and agnostics, and moderate Christians, may well both *support* people through times of doubt.

The Catholics are much more accepting of the doubts and struggles that come with faith; evangelicals are too busy condemning you for being weak to consider what they could do to help you.

There are exceptions, but as CF has shown us, they're rare.

I'm a bit disturbed about this for one reason.
It's caused me to rethink my online friendships. Do we really know who anybody is? Who are the people behind the usernames?

Oh God I'm so confused.

Does anyone know who I am? I could be anyone.
