When I did teach as 'junk' faculty at the local community college, they would always initially 'freek totally out' when my syllabus required a 'group design project'. They appreciated the 'joys' of algabrae, trig, & pre-calculus after they learned how to apply it to the real world.
Actually, for me, it's the other way. I can't do the application until I've understood the theory *independent* of any application. Go figure.

The problem isn't the CF rules; it's that the moderators are free to flagrantly violate them. Between LouisBooth and Gunny, there's been a LOT of abuses. Gerry has followed me around for months attacking me sideways or directly whenever possible, and he's gotten warned; an infidel who made even one or two posts that hostile would likely have been banned.

As you note, it's the opacity that really makes this possible.

I am surprised at your ungrateful behaviour. At any time, any of the moderators or adminstrators could have posted the two IP addresses, side-by-side, giving anyone and everyone who has even one iota's knowledge of IP tracing access to information about yourself - where you live, for example. And yet you're biting the hand holding the dossier. Interesting.
Curiously, gunny's game depends on the observation that the local atheist community has strong moral fibre.

I don't know how long it'll last, but there's a thread titled "moderators forum?" on CF which might be a good place for folks with grievances to air them. (It's in suggestions, bugs, and complaints.)

Perhaps more interesting, several of the moderation staff have expressed some level of interest in the feedback.

I think CF is suffering from a curious problem, in this respect. The difference between CF and boards like RaptureReady or BaptistBoard is that we *CAN* come up with a list of apparent abuses. Try coming up with such a list for one of the more insular Christian boards; you won't be able to post it in a single article. CF's problems are noticable only because they get things *right* much of the time.

Fat chance. I have no intention of airing any grievances.
I'm not sure it will do much good.

I have gone out of my way on this thread not to say anything personal against the mods on CF but ONE of the mods posting there trashed a thread I was posting on. His remarks about atheists were so out of line. You know, the "Atheists have no morals" bullshit.
I simply explained to him that he was wrong, that I have many family members including a daughter who are atheists/agnostics.
He trashed the thread. After yelling, of course, and accusing me of purposefully disrupting the thread.

Many of the posts in this thread made it into Winace's, "Christians Say the Darndest Things."
The bullshit, the lies and the Christian arrogance were astounding.

I was told that my abortion for an ectopic pregnancy was sinful and I would have to answer to God.
These are people who have no concept of an abortion due to a medical emergency.
Nothing was done about the attacks against me AND against all women who have had a medical emergency due to pregnancy.
So Seebs, you're doing a great job on that thread but I think I'll stay out of it.
It just amazes me, with all the theads we've had on abortions, some of these people just don't GET IT.
I'm so angry right now. Such hypocrisy. I have to get offline. I can't handle this shit anymore.

And how, if the grievance isn't aired, can we do anything about it?

While I trust a few of the mods and Admins, I consider them friends, I don't have faith in the system as an entity.
There are a few mods, new and otherwise, that I just don't trust.

With all the trashing of posts and threads over there, why was THIS allowed to stay?
