And what? I was just curious about your Dead Sea Scrolls comments. If you have the time to make a drive-by "When you believe in God" type post, I'm sure you could find time to respond to other questions posed to you on this forum.

It hurts credibility to run off and leave threads hanging like that.

Even I've managed a "you're right" post before slinking off into the sunset to nurse my wounds.

This part of the board would be really boring with no Christians here. Kind hard to have religious debates with only people who have no religion...

What difference does my credibility make? You guys have no desire to actually believe in God, so my only purpose here is to defend some aspects of Christianity and have fun debating. Not wasting my time with dead end topics that will never be beneficial to anyone here.

If you had any, you wouldn't have to ask.

Okay...you come on this board, state your case, and then when people make snide comments about it you get insulted. But at the same time, if people try to engage you in honest discourse and you don't have an answer you don't bother to admit it...instead you seemingly just run away and leave the topic high and dry.

You're not debating. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I was involved in debate for years and this is not how you do it. Say what you want, but don't call it debating. You're not even defending Christianity very well. You don't seem to be able to defend your positions at all (and this isn't an insult...it's honestly what I've observed through mainly lurking on the upper fora.) You're relatively new to the faith, as you admit, and you're attempting to defend Christianity against people who have spent far more time as Christians than you have not to mention a few people on here have even been pastors, ministers, etc. themselves. You don't recognize this fact...if you did you wouldn't come back repeating the same assertions time and time again...because you have to know that we've already heard these arguments in the past.

Why should anyone even attempt to reply to your posts if you openly say that credibility makes little difference and continue to refuse to change your debate tactics? Why shouldn't you just be put on ignore if this is all you're prepared to offer the forum and the only way you're willing to participate?

It makes a very big difference. The problem is that you are not defending any aspects of Christianity at all. In fact, you are making Christian ideas and Christianity in general look foolish by your statements. You are not a defender of Christianity, you are its own worst enemy. The fact that you don't see what difference it makes simply marks you as one of the fools.

Call it what you want, don't really care. You all made your decision and rejected God. We'll just have to see who turns out to be right. Whether we stay dead in the ground or you face Judgement.

What frigging angels?

Seems this thread's not having a resurgence, but rather, lysergic...

Magus55:
What the heck are you talking about?
Now, it hardly surprises me that you didn't understand, given your level of scientific knowledge.

It was a pun or play on words. Resurgence, as in the thread resurfacing. And lysergic, as in lysergic acid diethylamide. LSD. A strong hallucinogen.

If you’re talking about angels, then the thread’s having a lysergence. You have parted company with your trolley. Get it?

Of course, if you have evidence for these angels -- if, IOW, this isn’t an angels on pinheads discussion -- then please present it. If you have none, then quit prattling on about the nonexistant.

You're missing the whole point of Magus55's message - as a Christian, he's not allowed to think for himself - therefore his 'thought' process consists entirely of letting god (his perception of him/her/it, anyway) think for him. Which essentially means letting the church think for him...

Angry Put up or shut up

Let's be clear on one thing: humans were not 'created'. Nor was any other living thing. So please clarify that you are speaking metaphorically (or metaphysically). If you are not, I insist that you get your fundament(alist) into the appropriate forum, and defend what certainly smells from here like bullshit.

Magus55:
Nope, we are speaking quite literally. You can't prove they weren't "created" so don't make dumb, illogical remarks from a position of fact since you have no clue.
Ah, I see that arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand as usual, and are proportional to each other. I do find it strange how, the less informed a person is, the more arrogant he becomes.

On the contrary. Depending on your definition of ‘created’* and ‘prove’**, of course, we can say with some certainty that the bible is utterly wrong about the origins of life’s diversity and the origins of man. We have comparative genetics, comparative anatomy, and plenty of transitional fossils, amongst others, all demonstrating our close kinship with apes.

( * Allowing for it being created by evolution, with or without god’s help.
** Allowing for the world being empirical, not mathematically pre-defined.)

Right then pal. It is put up or shut up time. I suspect it is you who has no clue, so I’m starting a thread in your honour in E/C. Failure to show up and discuss this will be taken as conceding the point, and conceding that creation is trash.

You must put up your defence of ‘creation’, or shut up about it.

The thread is here.
