Its odd, Missus Gumby, but when I click on the real link, all I see is a blank blue page, and when I click on your parody, I see the same thing.

I suggest that MG try redoing that page by hand or something. I agree that Abby Aaron displays gross ignorance and stereotyping; it might be fun to trip her up on how much she understands about other religions and belief systems, including the Bible and most of the rest of Xianity. And given her obsession about how we want to get her and exploit her sexually, it might be fun to mention some juicy examples from the Bible of sexual exploitation of women. Consider why the Israelites had killed all the Midianites except the young women who have not gone to bed with any man. It might be fun to ask her why they made that distinction -- why not the men or middle-aged women? Or ask her to read what happened to Noah when he drank some wine -- he became tipsy and accidentally exposed himself. [ May 19, 2002: Message edited by: lpetrich ]
|

Another absurd thing in Abby's pages was claiming as authority all the other religions and sects as supposedly accepting the existence of the Fundie-Christian God, even if under other names.
However, she had sneered at a liberal Christian for viewing Jesus Christ only as a great moral teacher and God as some vague sort of spirit. However, if liberal Christianity is so grossly wrong, then other religions are even more wrong -- and cannot be claimed as confirmations of hers, as she attempts to do. |

Automaton, I eagerly await the next installments of your commentary on Abby's commentary.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made. And the sign flashed out its warning in the words that it was forming. And the sign said, ‘The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls, and whispered in the sound of silence.’” Paul Simon “The Sound of Silence” When Rhymin’ Simon wrote the above words, he was envisioning a society of empty people, people who wouldn’t listen to others, people content with accepting at face value the status quo. Those with insight, those who broke away from the mundane norm, were pushed out of the mainstream, their words reduced to the status of graffiti. Atheists—those who say they disbelieve in the existence of a Supreme Being—often are convinced that they are living in such a society. They see themselves as the lone voices of reason in a population that is every bit as deaf, dumb and blind as those depicted in Simon’s poetic lyrics. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You know, I never really thought of the song that way, but now I can. Made sense. The rest of what see said was complete nonsense though. |

part 10 has to be the the funniest piece of fundy logic that i have ever heard.
"how many legs does a dog have if you count the tail?"lol that certainly throws a monkeywrench in my atheist worldview. i wonder how she would answer this "how many legs does a dog have if you count the three invisible, intangible ones that are all the same leg?" |

I particularly liked this part:
"[T]he main reason most atheists disbelieve in God is political." Apparently we arrive at a disbelief in God because of our politically liberal views on gay rights, abortion, gun control, school vouchers, etc... richard |

Hm. I don't get why people are bothering to dissect her writing in such detail... she appears to be a fruitloop, and it's not as though she's a syndicated columnist or widely thought of as a good source of information/opinions. Sure, some people might believe her, but some people are credulous enough to believe in fairies and magic, too, so I don't see what the point is...
Best not to give her the attention she so obviously craves, IMNSHO. [ Now that I've actually read into this, it appears she's mentally unsound, to boot! Paranoid, at very least, and I'm guessing most of her stories are confabulations... ] [ May 20, 2002: Message edited by: daemon ]
|
